The TikTok safe zone is the part of a 9:16 video that TikTok's top bar, caption and buttons do not cover. On a 1080 x 1920 video, keep words and faces 240 px from the top, 660 px from the bottom, 120 px from each side, and 300 px from the right edge from 840 px down.
What does TikTok cover on a video?
Three things sit on top of every vertical TikTok: a bar across the top, the account name and caption across the bottom, and a column of buttons on the right (like, comment, share). Words or faces under any of them get hidden.
TikTok says the safe zone size depends on the video shape, the caption length and any extra formats, so a long caption covers more. Its ad specifications page links the safe zone files these numbers are measured from.

The file is drawn on a 720 x 1280 frame. The 1080 x 1920 column is the same frame scaled up by 1.5, which is the usual size for a full-HD vertical video.
How do I keep text inside the TikTok safe zone?
Put titles and captions in the upper middle of the frame, well below the top bar. Keep faces and products left of the button column. Leave the bottom third for the app. Check your size first with the aspect ratio calculator and the TikTok video size specs.

What is the TikTok safe zone?

What are the TikTok safe zone dimensions for 1080 x 1920?
Keep 240 px clear at the top, 660 px at the bottom and 120 px on each side. From 840 px down, also keep 300 px clear on the right for the button column. That leaves a clear box 840 px wide and 1020 px tall.
Where do these numbers come from?
They are measured from TikTok's own In-Feed safe zone file, which TikTok links from its ad specifications page. The file is drawn on a 720 x 1280 frame; the 1080 x 1920 numbers are the same frame scaled up by 1.5.
Does the safe zone change with a long caption?
Yes. TikTok says the safe zone size depends on the video shape, the caption length and any extra formats used. A long caption or an added link card covers more of the bottom, so leave extra room there.
Is the Instagram Reels safe zone the same?
No. Meta asks you to keep 14% of the top, 35% of the bottom and 6% of each side clear on Reels. On 1080 x 1920 that is about 269 px at the top, 672 px at the bottom and 65 px on each side.
