How Fast Is GPT Image 2.5 Flare?
OpenAI announced GPT Image 2.5 on 8 September 2026 and made Flare its default model. In OpenAI's words, Flare delivers higher-quality pictures than GPT Image 2 at 50% lower latency. Latency is the wait between pressing the button and getting the picture.
On 24 September 2026 we timed four Flare pictures on Reviral: 69, ≤118, 124 and ≤135 seconds from Generate to the finished 1K picture. The standard tier took 44–57 seconds the same day, so on our clock Flare was not the faster tier; waits depend on load. Your own time depends on the prompt, the shape you pick and how busy the service is at that moment, so treat it as a typical wait, not a promise.

Keep references light while drafting. Up to 9 reference pictures are allowed, but for quick tests one reference is usually enough.
