What is Wan 3.0?

Wan 3.0 is the newest video model in Alibaba's Wan family. Alibaba's API reference calls it an all-in-one reference-based model: it makes video from text, from a first frame or a first and last frame, and from reference images, videos and audio. One clip runs 2 to 30 seconds, twice the 15 second ceiling of Wan 2.7.

Alibaba opened a public beta in early August 2026 and launched it on August 24, 2026 (press reports). Its own pages still mark the model "in preview", and two versions exist: Wan 3.0 and the faster Wan 3.0 Prime. Both are on Reviral.

New in 3.0

What changed from earlier Wan versions

Length: 30 seconds in one pass, where Wan 2.5 made 5 or 10 seconds and Wan 2.7 15. References: up to 10 images, 5 videos (15 seconds in total) and 5 audio clips in one request. Prompts: up to 20,000 characters, against 1,500 on Wan 2.5.

Alibaba's API also reads a document or a web page as input and can edit or extend a video you give it. Sound stays on by default, as on Wan 2.5.

Use it when

Who Wan 3.0 is for

You need one continuous take longer than 15 seconds, for example a 30 second ad, a fashion walk or a scene that would otherwise be stitched from three clips.

You have pictures, clips or voice to steer it: a face, an outfit, a product or a sound can be given as a reference instead of described in words. Every resolution costs the same 19.8 credits a second on Reviral, so 1080p costs no more than 480p.
