Five steps to a banner ad
1. Pick the size: Google's common display sizes for computers include 300 x 250, 336 x 280, 728 x 90 and 300 x 600. 2. Write one headline of a few words; small body copy is unreadable at banner size. 3. Show one product, large. 4. Add one call to action such as Shop now. 5. Export at the exact pixel size and check it at 100% zoom.
Image Ads gives its Display 300 x 250 size the rule 'one short headline, one product, one optional CTA; avoid small body copy', and keeps the content inside a margin so nothing is cut at the edge.

Make it with AI from one product photo
In Image Ads, upload the product photo or paste a product link, pick a template such as Headline, Offer / Promotion or Us vs Them, and pick the size: Display 300 x 250, Landscape 1.91:1 at 1200 x 628, Facebook 1:1, Instagram 4:5, Story 9:16, TikTok 9:16, Portrait 3:4 or Amazon 1:1.
The words are written for you and stay editable, so the same picture can be tried with two headlines.
Carousel ads
Meta's ads guide allows 2 to 10 cards in a carousel, each at least 1080 x 1080 pixels in a 1:1 shape, as JPG or PNG pictures or MP4, MOV or GIF videos, with a headline of about 20 characters. Plan the cards as a sequence: the hook card, two or three proof cards, the offer card.
Image Ads makes one picture per template run, so a carousel is a few runs with different templates from the same product photo, each at 3 credits (~$0.04).
