Flux 2 guide

Flux 2 prompt guide: how to write a prompt that works

A good Flux 2 prompt names, in this order, the place and where its light comes from, the person and how they stand, each garment by fabric and hex colour, what the picture is for and what must not appear. Black Forest Labs says Flux 2 follows hex colour codes and reads long prompts, and on Reviral you can add up to 8 reference images, so describe what can be seen, not how it should feel.

6 rules for a Flux 2 prompt

  1. 1.Start with the place and its light

Set the scene first: where it is, the time of day, and the one light that falls on the person.

“Scene: a small second-hand record shop in the evening, wooden crates of records along both walls, a single warm desk lamp on the counter at the back.”

  2. 2.Name the person and the pose

Age, heritage, hair and one styling quirk, then how they stand and where they look.

“ginger hair cut in a short mod fringe and round black horn-rimmed glasses stands full length in the aisle, arms straight at his sides”

  3. 3.Name every garment by fabric and hex colour

Fabric tells the model how a piece catches light; the hex code fixes the colour exactly.

“a plum (#5B2A6E) crushed-velvet suit with a nipped waist and flared trousers over a mustard (#D9A21B) silk shirt”

  4. 4.Give every highlight a cause

Say which light makes which shine, so it lands where you expect.

“the desk lamp behind him throws a warm rim along the velvet so the crushed pile shows as light and dark patches”

  5. 5.Say what the picture is for

One use-case line sets the genre: here, a fashion-editorial photo.

“Use case: a fashion-editorial photo of a styled, deadpan person in an ordinary place.”

  6. 6.End with the constraints

List what must not appear and what must stay in frame.

“Constraints: one person, no readable text on the record sleeves, no logos, photoreal skin and fabric, the whole outfit in frame.”

  1. 1. Plum velvet suit in a record shop

    2K · 3:4 · 7 credits

Scene: a small second-hand record shop in the evening, wooden crates of records along both walls, a single warm desk lamp on the counter at the back. Subject: a man in his early forties of Irish heritage with very pale freckled skin, ginger hair cut in a short mod fringe and round black horn-rimmed glasses stands full length in the aisle, arms straight at his sides, a blank serious stare into the lens, mouth closed. Important details: a plum (#5B2A6E) crushed-velvet suit with a nipped waist and flared trousers over a mustard (#D9A21B) silk shirt, black patent Chelsea boots; the desk lamp behind him throws a warm rim along the velvet so the crushed pile shows as light and dark patches, the patent boots carry one small point of lamp light each. Use case: a fashion-editorial photo of a styled, deadpan person in an ordinary place. Constraints: one person, no readable text on the record sleeves, no logos, photoreal skin and fabric, the whole outfit in frame.

  3. 3. Navy sailor collar on a ferry deck

    2K · 9:16 · 7 credits

Scene: the open upper deck of a city ferry on a grey windy morning, white painted railings, orange life rings on the wall, flat grey water behind. Subject: a woman in her late twenties of Japanese heritage with light skin, a straight black bowl cut ending just above the eyebrows and small silver hoop earrings stands full length by the railing, arms straight at her sides, a deadpan stare into the lens. Important details: a navy (#1B2340) sailor top with a wide square collar trimmed in two white stripes, a pleated white skirt to the knee, navy knee socks, red (#B5242F) patent shoes; the wind lifts the back of the square collar off her shoulders and presses the pleats against her legs, flat overcast light keeps the white trims bright with no hard shadow.
